As we mentioned in our last post, SnowShoers have a bit of a thing for hackathons. This week has been no exception, as two teams that include SnowShoe employees have made their way into the top five at the Developer Week Hackathon in San Francisco.

SnowShoe CEO Claus Moberg and CTO Matt Lea joined forces to create the Pay Power project, which allows business owners to monetize their electric outlets. Claus and Matt created a simple device that can be mounted to your business’s consumer facing outlets. It allows customers to log in and prepay for the electricity that they will be using.

Pay Power uses SnowShoe Stamp technology to verify that the user is at the correct power outlet. It can be used at a variety of businesses, including, for example, prepaying for WiFi at hotels and airports.

Although both teams are officially in the hackathon’s top five, we’ll have to wait until Wednesday to get the final results. Stay tuned to hear whether or not SnowShoers come out on top!
